Professional Forum – Spotlight on Italian and Swiss cinema, in collaboration with AntennaMEDIA Torino. A series of roundtables will bring together distinguished experts for an exchange on the process of filmmaking in both countries.

Morning session – Scriptwriting and Film Schools

• H. 10:30-13:00: Roundtable on scriptwriting and film schools. Speakers: Stefano Boccardo (FERT Society, Turin); Cecilia Liveriero Lavelli (CISA, Lugano); ArmandoFumagalli (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan); Lucie Bader Egloff (Hochschüle für Gestaltung und Kunst, Zurich); Tina Porcelli (Istituto Europeo per il Design e le Arti Visive, Milan). Moderator: Bruno Fornara (Scuola Holden, Turin).
Representatives of the major Italian and Swiss film schools are invited to present the structure and aims of their institution in order to discuss different approaches to scriptwriting. In particular, the presence of different theoretical and practical/professional approaches and their outcomes in the actual process of filmmaking will be the focus of the discussion.
Afternoon session – Production, distribution & TV acquisition, fundings
• H. 15:00-16:00: Roundtable on filmmaking and production. Speakers: Italian directors Davide Ferrario, Louis Nero, Lorenzo Bianchini and Swiss producers Tiziana Soudani (AMKA Films) and Elda Guidinetti (Ventura Film). Moderator:
Francisco Villa-Lobos (producer, Contracosta Produções/Rivolta Film).
How does the production process unfold in Switzerland and in Italy? Which are the actual possibilities of co-production? What is the role of the producer in both countries and how does independent filmmakers produce their own works? These are the major issues which will be addressed by a panel of international producers and filmmakers working in different contexts in Switzerland and Italy.
• H. 16.00-17.00: Roundtable on distribution and TV film acquisition. Speakers:
Federico Jolli (Swiss TV channel RTSI – documentary production), Fabrizio Liberti (Italian public TV channel RAI Uno – film acquisition).
Representatives of Italian and Swiss TV stations as well as distributors will discuss the current policies and practices of film acquisition and broadcasting.
• Ore 17.00-17.30: Presentation of Media Plus (2001–2006) – EU Programme insupport of audiovisual development and outlines of the new structure of the MEDIA Programme (2007-2013): MEDIA 2007, by Antenna MEDIA Torino.
